Alexia Davis Payne

Candidate for Superior Court Judge, Augusta Judicial Circuit
Alexia Davis Payne offers a unique combination for the Augusta Judicial Circuit: the balanced experience of a veteran trial attorney and the fresh perspective of a modern leader.  Throughout her almost 20 year career, Alexia has been a fixture in the Superior Courts of Richmond and Burke Counties, having served as lead counsel in more than 50 jury trials.
Currently a Partner at Davis, Chapman, and Wilder, LLC, Alexia manages a sophisticated caseload in a variety of practice areas including criminal and family law. Her reputation on the bench and among her peers is one of meticulous preparation and a calm, authoritative courtroom presence. Before entering private practice, she spent over a decade with the Law Office of the Public Defender for the Augusta Judicial Circuit. As a Senior Associate Public Defender and Team Leader, she not only managed high-volume dockets across three counties but also mentored the next generation of attorneys, earning the prestigious Stephen B. Bright Public Defender Award for her excellence in legal defense.
A recognized leader in the local legal community, Alexia served as President of the Augusta Bar Association in 2020, navigating the organization through the unprecedented operational challenges of the pandemic. She was instrumental in creating new opportunities for not only local and but also incarcerated youth through the Georgia Bar’s HIgh School Mock Trial Program. Her leadership extends far beyond the courtroom; she is an advocate of the Augusta arts; she is a graduate and former Chair of Leadership Augusta adult classes and currently serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Augusta and Dreambuilder’s of America’s Youth.
A former Division I student-athlete at Baylor University and a graduate of Tulane University Law School, Alexia brings a competitive drive for excellence tempered by a disciplined judicial philosophy. She believes the Superior Court must be a forum of stability where the law is applied impartially, dockets are managed efficiently, and every litigant is treated with unwavering respect.
Alexia has been a member of the Georgia State Bar since 2006 and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Georgia and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. She remains dedicated to ensuring that the halls of justice in Richmond and Burke Counties operate with the transparency and integrity the citizens deserve.
